Women In The Visual Arts

Founded in 1989, Women in the Visual Arts, Inc. is a not-for-profit corporation whose focus is to promote interest in the Visual Arts in South Florida through its programs, activities and scholarships.

Over 250 WITVA members participate in a wide range of community services including:

AWARDING SCHOLARSHIPS: WITVA recognizes artistic achievement each year by awarding scholarships to college students wishing to further their studies in the Visual Arts at local colleges and universitites.  In 2007, $6800 in scholarships were awarded to five students.

HOSPITALART: WITVA members create artwork to brighten the walls of area not-for-profit hospitals, clinics, children & youth centers.

WONDERFUL WORLD OF ART: WITVA members introduce the world of art to children of Kindergarten & First Grade levels in public schools.

SPRING CELEBRATION OF HIGH SCHOOL ART: Each year 23 Palm Beach County High Schools are invited to participate in an Exhibit, which is shown at SUGAR SAND PARK for one month.  A Certificate of Participation is given to each student and awards are given to the best work.  Last year WITVA awarded over $8,400 in Scholarships, Awards and Prizes.  The teachers are given a Certificate of Appreciation for their dedication.

VISIONS IN ART: A Slide presentation on Visual Arts is available to local organizations upon request at no fee.

ART IN PUBLIC PLACES: Members' artwork is regularly displayed at community centers, senior centers, recreation centers and medical centers on an on-going basis throughout the year.

ART SHOWS: Numerous member exhibitions are held throughout the year, as well as one juried show which is open to all South Florida artists over the age of 18. Cash prizes and ribbons are awarded.
